INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA – JUNE 2017

The International Day of Yoga, was celebrated on the 25th of June 2017 in Swaziland at the former Swazi Paper Mills in Matsapha.
The event was hosted by the Honorary Consul General of India, Mrs Mona Ashraff and was attended by many interested Yogis, this also included The Hon. Minister of Health in Swaziland, Mrs. Sibongile Ndlela-Simelane, who was also the guest speaker at the event, The Honorary Consul General of Indonesia, HE. Mr. Kareem Ashraff as well as Mr Hareesh, who was the yoga guru for the event.

The event was attended by a number of people of various ages. In her opening speech,HE. Mrs Ashraff informed the attendees of how yoga could benefit their wellbeing, not only physically but spiritually as well. “Yoga and Meditation is very necessary and essential for all human beings if it is practiced by all on a daily basis in the early parts of the morning. Yoga is actually an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body. It is a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not only about the exercise, but it is also about discovering the sense of oneness with you, the world and the nature,” she said.

Mrs Sibongile Ndlela-Simelane also urged that the attendees should try making time to practise yoga in order to regain concentration on a busy day and tackle life’s challenges with a positive mindset and a healthy body..
