Farewell Reception

H.E. Ms. Radha Venkataraman, High Commissioner of India, hosted a Farewell Reception on 22 April 2022. Several Cabinet Ministers, Senior Government officials, members of Diplomatic Corps attended the Reception.

2. H.E. Ms. Radha Venkataraman is the first resident High Commissioner of India to the Kingdom of Eswatini. She established the High Commission in August 2019 in the Kingdom. During her tenure, she contributed to lay the groundwork and solidify the overall bilateral relationship between the two countries. Following are the major accomplishments of her as High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Eswatini:

  • Release of Grant Assistance of US$400,000 for the irrigation infrastructure project at Maphalaneni.
  • Handover of Government of India’s Donation of 6000 kgs. of essential medicines during Covid 19 and donation of 20,000 Covid19 vaccines, the first ever in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
  • Virtual Benchmarking Exercise for judicial officers to visit judicial institutions in India.
  • Accreditation of Defence Advisor stationed at High Commission of India, Pretoria to the Kingdom of Eswatini.
  • Approval for Eswatini’s proposal to (India-Brazil-South Africa) IBSA Board for US$ 1 million from IBSA Fund.
  • Facilitation of first ever bilateral meet in the field of Cooperation between the Ministry of Cooperation in India and the Commissioner of Cooperation of Eswatini.
  • First bilateral meeting (virtual) between the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) of India and Ministry of Natural Resources & Energy.
  • Facilitation of Line of Credit Agreement worth US$10.4m for the Disaster Recovery Site to the National Data Center of the Royal Science & Technology Park.
  • Facilitation of Line of Credit Agreement worth US$108.28m for new Parliament Building of Eswatini.
  • Eswatini Signing the Framework Agreement of International Solar Alliance to be a Member of the Alliance.
  • Facilitation of Eswatini’s entry into the programme of eVidya Bharati& eAarogya Bharati programme – online academic degree programmes for Africa by India.
  • Facilitation of about 70 fully-paid ICCR scholarships to Emaswati students.
  • Facilitation of more than 300 ITEC/eITEC training opportunities to Government officials at various levels, including 05 specially curated eITEC programmes exclusively for the Kingdom of Eswatini.
  • Facilitation of Defence Training to officers of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force.
  • Inclusion of Eswatini in focused/target countries list of the Study in India program and the first Study in India Virtual event with Emaswati Students.
  • Visit of two Eswatini handicraft/cultural teams to the world famous Surajkund Melas in 2020 and 2022 and the International Tribal Dance Festival in the State of Chhattisgarh, India in 2021.
  • Establishment of India Corners at the National Libraries in Mbabane and Manzini with computer hardware, internet service and hundreds of books and Mini-India Corners at the University of Eswatini and Sifundzani High School, Mbabane.
  • Support to Eswatini’s ‘Plant a Trea and Save the Environment Campaign.
  • Supporting in the revival of the game of Chess in the Kingdom by being the Chief Patron of the Eswatini Chess Federation and facilitating MOU between the Eswatini Chess Federation and the All India Chess Federation.
  • Two KhanyaDiwali events promoting indigenous culture/crafts of the Kingdom while at the same time projecting the rich cultural heritage and traditions of India.
  • Promotion of Yoga in the Kingdom.
  • Visit of Doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi for training to Eswatini Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics on basic & advanced airway management.
  • Sponsoring the India@75 T20 Cricket Tournament as part of the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
