Return of Eswatini Solar Mamas

PRESS RELEASE

It is with great pleasure the High Commission of India Mbabane announces the safe return of following SIX SOLAR MAMAS from the Kingdom of Eswatini, after having successfully completed their training in the assembly of solar equipment under the ITEC programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India at the Barefoot College, Tillonia, Rajasthan, India:

 

  1. Ms. Bakhetsile Magongo
  2. Ms. Ivy Nokuthula Dludlu
  3. Ms. Masesi Rose Bhembe
  4. Ms. Gcamile Ngwenya
  5. Ms. Promise Zakhe Vilakati
  6. Ms. Tholakele Mamba

In addition to training in the assembly of solar equipment, they were imparted training in basic electrical wiring and circuits, which would come handy in their re-starting careers afresh as solar pioneers of Eswatini. This would go a long way in the empowerment of women in semi-urban and rural areas of Eswatini.

Though they completed their five months course on 31 July 2020, they could not return to Eswatini till date due to non-availability of flights.

The High Commission wishes to convey its gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Eswatini for their cooperation in the facilitation of safe return of SOLAR MAMAS.
